Position Description:

As a key member of the accounting team, the Staff Accountant contributes knowledge and business skills to support company objectives. The staff accountant coordinates the monthly financial close and is also responsible for general ledger reconciliations, internal controls and compliance.

This position reports to the Controller and will also provide support to the Treasurer.

Duties and responsibilities include:

Strategic:

- Support the development of system-related enhancements to improve efficiency and effectiveness of setup and maintenance.
- Document recordkeeping and accounting systems according to company processes and procedures. Periodically, review processes and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and control.
- Effectively work with teammates on documentation and cross-training of procedures to ensure efficiency within the department

Tactical:

- Prepare, examine, and analyze financial statements and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.
- Provide support and analysis for tax, corporate reporting, internal and external auditors, internal controls and special projects.
- Maintain and coordinate general ledger accounts, journal entries and analysis of trends and significant changes.
- Perform duties necessary to process bi-weekly payroll and related reports and transactions including maintaining related records, processing deductions and appropriate garnishments.
- Effectively work with teammates on documentation and cross-training of procedures to ensure efficiency within the department.
- Maintain fixed asset records
- Other duties or special projects as assigned by supervisor

Job Specifications:

Bachelor?s Degree in Accounting/ Finance or Business Administration
Minimum of 3 years progressive business accounting experience, preferably
working within a manufacturing environment
Must have experience working with an accounting software, MAS 200 preferred
Proficient with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and Outlook
Self motivated with the ability to work independently
Must be proactive and be able to work well under pressure to meet deadlines
High level problem solving and analytical skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Should possess strong interpersonal and team-building skills
