Tuesday night's winter finale of "Glee" tackled the difficult topic of teen bullying and suicide. David Karofsky (Max Adler) — who bullied Kurt (Chris Colfer) because of his sexuality only to be revealed later as gay himself — tried to kill himself after teammates at his new school discovered the football player was gay and viciously harassed him verbally and online.

Karofsky's attempt was unsuccessful but it brought the subject to the forefront for all of the characters. And while the show's decision to take on the topic was bold, the portrayal has inspired a mixed reaction.

Among the viewers who felt the topic was handled deftly and with great care is David McFarland, the interim executive director and CEO of the Trevor Project, a national organization that provides crisis and suicide prevention services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning youth. The group aired a much-discussed PSA featuring "Harry Potter" star Daniel Radcliffe during the episode.

"It's clear after last night's episode that Ryan Murphy and his team did an excellent job of doing their research to tell a tough story and we were very proud to be involved and have the opportunity to air Trevor's PSA with Daniel Radcliffe," McFarland told MTV News on Wednesday (February 22).

Others, however, complained that the episode had too many additional story lines — a teen wedding, the Regionals' singing competition and a major incident for one of the principal characters that we won't spoil here — which ultimately served to oversimplify and trivialize an important topic.

MTV News' own "Glee" re-capper, Kevin Sullivan, took particular offense to a comment made by Mr. Schuester, who revealed that his own suicide attempt was prompted by being caught cheating on a math test.

"Suicide has so many aspects to consider that it cannot be glossed over in the same hour that features a regional show choir competition and a fictional wedding," Sullivan said.

McFarland disagreed, however, saying he thought the episode was an example of responsible storytelling. "[The Trevor Project wasn't] told in advance ... what the episode was going to be, we weren't on-set advisors to the episode," McFarland added. "We've been involved to the extent that if they were going to tell the story about suicide, we just wanted to make sure that they had access to resources to tell that story properly.

What seemed to be sloppy product placement also raised some eyebrows given the subject matter. After a member of McKinley's Christian student club (a.k.a. the "God Squad") mentions that they're sending Karofsky an Edible Arrangement, we later spot the fruit bouquet when Kurt visits the hospital. And when Warbler Sebastian announces that his team will be taking donations for Lady Gaga's Born This Way Foundation at Regionals, some couldn't help but cringe.

While the Born This Way Foundation's anti-bullying mission aligns well with the episode's message, some fans questioned the wisdom of plugging the yet-to-launch organization of a major pop star when other, less-visible organizations have demonstrated their work on the matter. Still, McFarland thinks the show did a great service by putting the topic of LGBT teen suicide on a large national platform; he's happy the subject is getting the national attention it deserves.

"It's being discussed on many platforms and levels throughout this country, including on the radar screen of the president and first lady of the United States," McFarland said. "And a story like this reinforces the important attention that this country needs to give to what is truly a health crisis in America.

"We really need to provide safe spaces and environments for our youth and that episode told that story beautifully," he continued. "More of these stories need to be told, more work needs to be done. Overall, we need to do a much better job for our young people in providing safe environments and they need to feel socially, emotionally and physically safe and supported at home, in their communities and their schools."

She would make him suffer too ? and she knew perfectly well that her affair could not be kept a secret.? Affairs are always revealed.? In fact, in the episode entitled ?Another Ham Sandwich,? Alicia was forced to admit under oath before a grand jury of her dalliance with her boss.? After which her first thought was to rush home and tell her children before they heard about it through the news, but due to unrelated legal maneuvering the grand jury testimony remained sealed and Alicia was able to postpone the inevitable revelation to her kids.? In that moment, Alicia unconsciously acknowledged the wrongness of her actions ? she was keeping it from her children and she was horrified that they may find out.? This was not a relationship that she was proud of, nor one that she intended to pursue.? It had merely served as a way to strike back at her philandering husband for his past affairs.? It worked.? But given the thorny legal situation that it has now placed Alicia, she must be rethinking her hasty and ill-advised actions.? One day soon she will be asking herself: was it worth it?? And she will be forced to admit that it wasn?t.? But once David realized that his heart wasn?t in it and that he wanted to pursue a relationship with Mary Margaret, he should have been open about it and left his wife.? Continuing to live with Kathryn and deceive her about his feelings and their relationship is wrong.? It was equally wrong for Mary Margaret to agree to see David, sneaking around like it is so romantic to have an affair.? Worse yet, it was wrong for a show that touts itself as a family-show to make its audience (which is comprised of younger viewers) a party to such conduct.? Do we want our children thinking it is okay to cheat?

How hard is it for people to simply declare their feelings openly to another person for the whole world to see and be honest about their relationships?? NEW ORLEANS (AP) ? The last of the once-ubiquitous FEMA trailers has been removed from New Orleans more than six years after floodwalls and levees broke during Hurricane Katrina and caused the city to flood.

On Wednesday, the Federal Emergency Management Agency said the last trailer was removed Sunday. The agency said the household living in the trailer moved into their rebuilt home last week.

New Orleans once had more than 23,000 FEMA trailers. The city complained they were eyesores. But people relied on them so long because of troubles that included shortfalls in funds for rebuilding and health and personal problems.

FEMA said there were three trailers still left elsewhere in Louisiana from the 2005 hurricane season.

How to invest in the coming housing market rebound (AP)

CHICAGO ? The housing market recovery hasn't taken off yet, but a rally in its stocks sure has. The Standard & Poor's homebuilders index is up 60 percent since October.

Given that stock prices tend to anticipate business trends, does that mean a housing market rebound is imminent during the spring home-selling season?

Not necessarily.

The biggest sustained rally in homebuilding stocks in years and recent upbeat home sales data, however, have injected some long-absent optimism into the outlook for housing.

Sales of previously occupied homes rose for three straight months at the end of last year. The glut of houses on the market is diminishing, down to 2.4 million previously owned homes on the market in December from 3.8 million in June. And buyers are slowly regaining a little bit of confidence.

"The housing market enters the spring selling season in absolutely the best shape it's been since 2005," says analyst Eric Landry, who follows homebuilding stocks for Morningstar. "Sales will still likely be below normal, but inventories are in the best shape they've been in years."

The government's landmark $25 billion settlement of foreclosure abuses is the latest dose of good news. Financial analysts see it as helping to clear the way for builders to gear up construction activity.

The CEOs of some of the biggest homebuilders said during earnings conference calls this month that the housing market has stabilized. But they were cautious about making any bullish forecasts.

Major improvement in the industry won't take place until next year, according to a forecast by the chief economist of the National Association of Home Builders, David Crowe.

More important for investors, the big run-up in stock prices in the last four months makes a correction likely soon. Homebuilding stocks have a history of declining after rising in the months ahead of spring selling season.

The current rally is seen by some as the opening act in a multi-year recovery for the stocks. Low interest rates, more affordable home prices and pent-up demand should help them rise further.

But the stocks are no longer cheap. Most are currently trading at roughly 1.5 times book value ? considered the best way to value this group. Book value is the value of a company's assets if it were to be liquidated. Their current value strongly suggests they are overpriced.

Investors would be wise to keep an eye on housing-related stocks. With prices having shot up, though, they should exercise caution. Waiting for a pullback and buying after spring home-selling season, if the industry still has momentum, makes more sense. That should put investors in much better position to profit from the coming rebound.

Here are four stocks to watch, along with an exchange-traded fund that invests in homebuilders:

D.R. HORTON INC. (DHI)

Shares of D.R. Horton are up 74 percent since an industry low-water mark on Oct. 3. That's well above the 23 percent climb of the Standard & Poor's 500, but shares are still about where they were two years ago. The company caters mostly to low-end buyers and builds homes in 26 states. Financial analysts believe that its broad customer base can help the company grow annual revenue by double digits for years.

LENNAR CORP. (LEN)

With lean construction practices, a healthy balance sheet and other strengths, Morningstar says Lennar sits poised to reap major economic gains from an eventual rebound in housing. Its revenue was up 12.5 percent and orders were up 21 percent in the fourth quarter, its highest growth in several years. The company recently created a distressed real estate unit, Rialto, that allows it to obtain land more cheaply than competitors. It also provides financial services including mortgage financing, title and closing services. Its backlog of orders is 36 percent higher than a year ago, leaving it in good shape to wait for a future surge in sales. The stock is up 88 percent since early October.

TOLL BROTHERS INC. (TOL)

Toll Brothers builds higher-priced homes in urban markets with job growth, particularly in the Northeast. That focus on the high-end consumer should enable the company to profit from a recovery in housing. Like Lennar, it has a distressed investment arm, Gibraltar, that helps it lock in land at bargain prices in marquee locations, an advantage that will show on the bottom line when home-selling picks up. It also has modest net debt of just $400 million. Along with Lennar, it may be the best-positioned of the homebuilders to profit from the recovery, according to analyst Jack Micenko of Susquehanna Financial Group. Toll Brothers shares are up 74 percent since early October.

SPDR S&P HOMEBUILDERS (XHB)

This exchange-traded fund includes seven of the largest homebuilders. It also owns shares of companies that sell building materials or furniture and other items for the home. Many of the homebuilders are sitting on large piles of cash. That will allow them to expand in the coming years. The fund is cheaper than the other homebuilder ETF, with an expense ratio of 0.35 percent versus 0.47 percent for iShares Dow Jones U.S. Home Construction.
